Thank You

indhsToday Indy Homeschool is six months old. I cannot believe how much has happened in these six months. More than I ever expected!

I have always loved blogging. Just the idea of it has always been fascinating to me. Back in the dial-up days, my uncle’s blog was featured on Tech TV (or whatever it was called), and of course that made a big impression. The idea that you could write about whatever you want and people would actually read it (all without the drama, competitiveness, and impossibilities of the book world) was just awesome to me. So I tried over and over throughout the years to start a blog, but it never really worked out. I just couldn’t seem to find my niche. It wasn’t that I couldn’t find an audience (I never even got that far), it was that I couldn’t even figure out what to write about.

Then finally- FINALLY- an idea came to me… I love homeschooling. I have a hard time finding local resources that fit me. I do not fit with a lot of the larger homeschooling support groups because of religious differences, and even disregarding that many just don’t have the time to focus specifically on the Indianapolis area. I realized that if I wasn’t finding what I needed from other sources, I could just make it myself!

I expected to have a year of no one reading this, save for perhaps my mom. I thought I’d have a nice long learning curve, and after that time I could focus some efforts on networking and building my brand.

I was so blessedly wrong! In just six months this page has grown and grown. It continues to grow every single day! The Facebook page has about 340 followers. And I checked, only about 40 of those are my friends and family that I forced to “like” it. That means 300 of you are people I don’t know very well, you just really wanted to see what I had to share! How cool!

In these six months I have had the opportunity to meet many great new people in the blogging world and am starting to form friendships that I am so grateful for. I have had the opportunity to visit new places and events, try new products, and help set up new programs just for our homeschooling community. All because of YOU, dear readers!

Indy Homeschool is still a baby. The site is still growing and there are still many, many things I hope to add. Please know I am working every single day to try to provide you with the best resources and to make the site accessible for all. Be patient, as I’m still learning. But know that I am so, so grateful to every single person who stops by this page. This has proven to be hard work for me, but it is work I love and I get to do it thanks to all of you.inHSty
