The Indianapolis Museum of Art will offer another great homeschool program coming up in August! August 25, 2015, will be Art and Nature Homeschool Day. Similar to the day they had last year, there will be multiple sessions you need to sign up for in advance, plus there are some activities that you can join in anytime during the day. It will take place from 11 a.m – 2 p.m.
Sessions will include:
Stories from a Wise Fool (ages 4-8): 11:00 or 1:00 session. From the site: The Hodja is a wise man from Turkey, who does a lot of silly things. After all, would YOU feed your coat spaghetti? Create a fancy coat to wear, act in a play, and find out why the Hodja did this. After that, you can explore related art in the galleries with a fun Wise Fool’s scavenger hunt. Session size is limited and last year this session filled up the quickest; early registration recommended.
STEAM Studio: Colors in Nature (ages 5-13): 11:00 or 1:00 session. From the site: Infusing the Arts into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education turns STEM into STEAM! In this session, you will learn about colors in nature, explore natural materials, and create a watercolor resist painting. Space is limited; early registration recommended.
Drop-in Wild Play will take place for all ages anytime between 11:00 – 12:30, and Hold It! Art Cart Stations will be set up for all ages anytime between 11:30 – 1:00.
The cost for this program is $5 for members or $10 for nonmembers. This is one price for your entire family. Register by August 7 by emailing [email protected] with the following information: Educator’s name, students’ names, students ages, and sessions preferred. I would register early as these IMA programs fill up FAST!
