October 3: Homeschool Orchard Day at Tuttle Orchards

Apple Picking
Apple picking is one of our favorite activities in the fall. Well, it’s one of my favorites, and the boys like to reap the benefits from it so they put up with it. And my very favorite place to go for apple picking is Tuttle Orchards. Not only is that because it’s really close to my house, but they also have knowledgable, friendly staff AND high standards that make their apples and apple products the best, in my opinion.

October 3, 2016, will be Homeschool Orchard Day at Tuttle Orchards. This is by far one of the best field trip deals around. On Homeschool Orchard Day, you will get a behind the scenes tour of the apple world. Step inside the giant refrigerator that houses all the apples, see the cider press and sample some cider, pick your own apples and a pumpkin, observe a bee hive, AND MORE! The two hour tour plus free time in the kids play area is an amazing value at only $8 per person (both children and adults). Register online or by calling Helen at 317/498/1009. Times are 11:30 or 1:30. Hurry, spaces are very limited and going fast!

We just did this at Anderson Orchard, and it was fantastic (there's no fee - just rock up and talk to the staff in the barn and off you go), no bee hives there though which would be a great item for our Spring/Summer Curriculum. I literally just made no-bake cinnamon apple cookies and am waiting on the crumble to come out of the oven. What's not to love about Fall?
