Every once in a while, we must take a break from our homeschooling in order to take care of ourselves. Koru Naturals knows this and they hooked me up with some of their products to try and review, just for me! I received a bottle of their Emu Oil as well as a jar of Koolpurrie Restoring Balm. And with this harsh Indiana winter? The timing could not have been better.
Emu Oil is an oil traditionally used by the Australian Aboriginal people as a natural moisturizer. It is taken from the emu during processing. Emu Oil is dye- and perfume-free, hypoallergenic, and doesn’t clog pores, so it’s great to use on your face. When using it on the skin, it soaks in faster than many oil products I’ve tried and definitely leaves your skin feeling softer even just after the first application. I have been regularly using it in my hair as a sort of leave-in conditioner. The weather here and dry air have really been taking its toll on my hair. It is constantly dry and full of static. I have been putting a drop or two in my hand and rubbing it through my hair while it’s still wet after a shower. Then I blow dry and I’m left with soft, full hair. After the first time, I could easily feel the difference. I’ve read other reviews in which the reviewers use it before they was their hair, leave it in for a few minutes, then wash out with a gentle shampoo.
In the past few weeks, we have nearly used up my jar of Koolpurrie Restoring Balm. This product is a combination of the emu oil and lanolin, creating a very thick jelly-type product. Because it’s thick and sticks better, it is perfect for those really rough patches. My poor feet. My feet have been an embarrassment for quite a while now; dry, cracked, and peeling. Before receiving this product, when asked how I might use it, my first answer was: MY FEET! I’ve tried lotion, I’ve tried cream, but short of sand paper nothing was really helping. As soon as I received my Koolpurrie Restoring Balm, I pulled it out and rubbed some on my poor heels. Now, this stuff is pretty sticky, so I definitely recommend putting it on right before bed. Of course by bedtime I’m usually exhausted, so I put it on when I remember then immediately cover them with socks. I have been using the balm for four weeks now, and my heels are no longer peeling or flaking. My feet are smoother and not an embarrassment when someone sees them. I’m actually starting to look forward to sandal weather now! For the last couple of days I’ve been using the Koolpurrie Restoring Balm on my Little Man’s chapped hands as well. We’re already seeing some improvement and he says they do not hurt as much.
